Why are boys names always so much harder to choose!?

There seems to be so much more choices out there for girls names. Boys names seem so limited!

Why are boys names always so much harder to choose!?
I wish i knew.......

My hubby and i had such a hard time choosing names for our 3 boys but it was so easy to come up with a name when we had our little girl...
Reply:I couldn't think of anything but one night my husband called me from work with a name and idea. If it was a boy his name would be cory michael and a girl it would be summer mae. The boys middle name is my husbands middle name but would be my initals and vice versa for the girls name.
Reply:I think there are plenty of names for boys, but many of them are just not names parents are comfortable saddling their kid with. I think we worry more about boys having a name that will result in teasing, so that limits choices. I never really thought about this before, but I think that's the issue.
Reply:It's the exact opposite in my eyes...I have a boy name picked out and a back up one that I really love too. Landon and Brendan. I have yet to find a girl name that doesn't make me go "ick!". It seems like there's a problem with every girl name I hear, whether I know somebody with that name or it just makes me think of something I don't like.
Reply:i was told that if you can find a boys name its because you are having a girl or vice versa,

so when i was pregnant it was about two weeks before i found out the sex and i only had girls names written down so i had a idea it was a girl and guess what it was

so yeah
Reply:I guess girls are more desicive towards their own names, boys don't really care, although boys may think the same thing about girls, but there are many different boys' names, there are just many of the same boys' names' chosen.
Reply:i agree and its even the same with boys clothes.

girls have heaps more names and heaps more variety with clothes.

i think its something to do with masculinity.
Reply:I agree about the boys names being so limited, but then I think its harder to choose girls names simply the opposite reason. Because there is so many to choose from
Reply:I never had that problem. We actually had a harder time finding a girl name we agreed on. However on this site I do see more people bummed about boy names.
Reply:I have 2 boys

1. Preston George (after his daddy)

2. Haden Jameson (after his great grandpa)
Reply:I think because we are girls its much easier to pick a girls name than boys.

Im having a boy in October and have no idea on a name!

Good luck
Reply:I think the opposite! My husband and I already have a few boy names in mind, but can not figure out any girls names that we like.

Good luck!
Reply:I got to name my niece and my nephew

and im only 10 so it's pretty special,and i

named them Dylan-Lee and Brooke-Lynn

%26lt;theire twins!%26gt; maybe that will help?!?!
Reply:Because your a girl. Boys generally have the same problem.
Reply:funny how I was thinking the same thing :)

What are some victorian era boys names?

Im writing a story and i need help. My main character is named Bella and I really wanted Edward to be her romantic love interest but I don't want it to be the same as twilight, (Even though he is not a vampire). Im looking for names that have a romantic feel to them but are still very...masculine. The boy character that im naming is half indian and half british. Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it :)

What are some unique baby girl names and unique baby boys names?
Google baby names %26amp; they will give you tons of links to look at names. People make names just out of everyday words/foods you know like Gywneth P's Apple and little boy Moses. We were super picky with our boys names but we finally picked them out our last one took us all the way up to the last two weeks before having him when we decided on his name. Check out the letter Z section there's not too many Z names out there. Congrats %26amp; good luck!

What are unique, pretty, interesting, rock solid names (boys and girls) that start with E and M?

My fiance and I have the same first and middle initial, E and M. When we marry we will have the same initials. I want some ideas for when we have kids one day. This doesnt mean they will have the same initials for sure, its just for fun to see what people say! (I know its silly, but fun - no need for opinions, im just curious about what's out there)

How about these for boys names?

I am 12 weeks pregnant and don't know the sex of the baby. If it is a girl we have the name sorted but we are stuck on boys names. The middle name will be Henry after the fathers grandfather but we are stuck between these 3 first names,

Kyron

Kyran

Kyler

How about these for boys names?
Kyler Henry :)

I think a first name ending in an N doesnt flow aswell with the middle name Henry.

gud luck and congrats!

xx :-) xx
Reply:I am not to sure I like those names. My son is named Haydn and I think that would be nice
Reply:Go with Kyle
Reply:Kyler but why not name (the wannabe) him Kyle?
Reply:Kyler Henry is nice. :-)
Reply:Kyler Henry seems very nice, and the two just seem to match, I would be happy to call my boy it.

Hope I Helped

Liam :)
Reply:I agree with spike, having a typical xx accent we tend not to pronounce ..er's in stread replace with a sounds.

so Kyle.

But I am not sure of mixing Kyle and Henry

Kyle James, John, Michael,Jackson, not micheal jackson, but kyle jackson,

Also henry is a great first name.
Reply:why not:

Kieron Henry (not Kyron/Kyran)

or Kyle Henry (not Kyler - sounds female(Kyla))
Reply:Sorry, don't like any of them. I'm okay with names that are not common, but these are just too "different".
Reply:That's like something you'd hear on Jeremy Kyle, they all suck. (Sorry)
Reply:any reason why they all start with a K ??

to me, neither, but then again, these things are all about personal preference... you are the one who will be using that name thousands of times to call him !!
Reply:I like Kyler
Reply:kyler is a nice name, but dave is better...! nah stick with kyler, it sounds suitable and unique
Reply:How about Kieran or Kyle?

They're much nicer and there will be less confusion with spelling, pronounciation etc...
Reply:Kylers cute
Reply:Don't use any of these three. I know you think they are cute and clever, but I forsee some schoolyard fights in his future over these.
Reply:What about Kyle or Kieran - at least they are real names not some made up chavvy rubbish.
Reply:go with Kyler
Reply:Kyler is nice :-)
Reply:Kyler
Reply:What about Keiran or Ciaran . . .
Reply:Kyler is a personal favorite--it is my name! Everywhere I go--people love my name. GO FOR IT!
Reply:I'm not crazy about any of them... Sorry :(

BUT out of the three I like Kyler Henry the best!

Good luck!!
Reply:Kyle Henry.
Reply:Don't use them, they're for interplanetary travellers.

Actually, my theory is that you will probably have a girl as you've got the girl's name sorted. Who knows!
Reply:sorry
Reply:I'm sorry, but I don't like those names. Why not use Henry for a first name and maybe Kyler for a middle name. Henry Kyler...that would be something I could live with. However, I'm not the one that has to live with it, so my opinion doesn't really matter. Good luck!
Reply:I like Kyler
Reply:LOVE Kyran!

Help with unique african american girls and boys names?

I am 18 weeks pregnant and I am having a hard time with names so I would appreciate the help.

Help with unique african american girls and boys names?
Whatever name you choose, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider you childs future and the ability or inbility to become gainfully employed based on the "perceived" ethnicity of a name. Don't choose a name like Moesha, Porsche, Keisha, Jordan, Dante', Marcus, DeAndre. Choose an "ethnic-free" name like Taylor or Raine or Aeriel, Conner, Cameron, Carter, Tyler or something like that so that your child can have a chance at being successful in life.
Reply:Manisha, its pretty AND IT MEANS INTELLIGENT.
Reply:shezah mufalah and takari yulan
Reply:Girls- Zariyah or Aaliyah

Boys- Damarcus, Chase, Chad
Reply:I found that if you use Oprah's baby namer you can look up names by ethnic background, then further search by meaning! Barnes and Nobles also carries lots good babynaming books, one specifically with African/ African American names.

I think it is always good to decide the meaning you want to bestow on your child then search that way.
Reply:I HAVE 2 BOYS NAMED JAI' DEN ZAKARUS AND JA'KAREE CORTEZ . YOU CAN GO 2 WALMART R BOOKS A MILLION AND PURCHASE A BABY NAME BOOK. GOOD -LUCK AND CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Aniya for a girl name and i think Ashanti is a african name too
Reply:Just a word of advice....make sure your child will be able to pronounce the name %26amp; spell it.
Reply:Boys- Javari, Alijah, Kenyon, Sandrez, Dravon, JaMarion

Girls- M'Lea, Ashaila, Jamya, Latyra, Amari, Braylen

Reply:I think you should look into giving your child a beautiful African name. My name is Zakiya (zah-KEE-yah) which means intelligent in Swahili. I think if you give your child a name with meaning instead of making up a nonsensical "African American" name it will give him/her a sense of pride. I love my name. It may be difficult for some people to pronounce but it is meaningful to me. And I always get compliments on it.

Go to this website http://www.namesite.com

it has an abundance of meaningful African names. They give the pronunciation, the origin, and the meaning.

Here's my name: http://www.namesite.com/name.php?id=jina...
Reply:malia lachuntay i like that name
Reply:Go to http://www.babynameaddicts.com/ and you can see different names by clicking a letter. it has female and male names. it says what they mean and where it came from. It has some names ive never heard of so it might help. enjoy mother hood.
Reply:Girl- Shareese Antoinette Boy- Antonio Lamar

Unisex- Amari
Reply:Girls: Brianne or Brianna (Brie for short), Neshume (means soul), Anis, Maya, kiara, idk

Boys: Denis, Javon, Jurrel, Marcus, good luck!
Reply:I really like the name Ashauri instead of Ashanti. Ashauri Shante', Shakyra, Taniyah, Aniya, and for a boy Armund, Ausanti, Kyran, Kyris, and Idrese or Edrese. Hope I helped a little. These are just names I really like. Congrats on your pregnancy and Good Luck!

What do you think of these two boys names?

Jason %26amp; Donovan [pronounced Don-uh-vin].

Would they be good sibling names?

What good nicknames for each?

Thanks! :o)

What do you think of these two boys names?
Good names.

Jason might be a little overused, but it's a good name.

Donovan is a good name.

Good sibling names.

Don and Jase.
Reply:I don't think that they really match each other. If you want to stick with Jason, I would go with Brian, Jeremy, Christopher, Chad, or Eric. Or if you want to keep Donovan, I suggest Brennan, Riley, Connor, Cameron, or Garrett.

The names are from different decades, Jason was popular during the 70s, and Donovan is at it's height right now.
Reply:I love those names together. They are absolutely adorable. Jason is a cute boyish name that anybody would fall in love with, and Donovan seems like a strong handsome name. Some nicknames for Jason are Jay or Jase. Nicknames for Donovan are Don or Donny. Great Choices.
Reply:i personally like jason - it seems rare yet elegant :)

for jason you could call him jay ?

donovan its okay - but alot of people are going to have a hard time prouncing it , so stick with jason . %26amp; DON is a nickname for donovan.
Reply:Donovan no.

but Jason is okay.

Donovan's nickname could be DonaldDuck.
Reply:Those are both cute names! They sound great as siblings!

Jason you can call him Jas

Donovan you can call him Van and Don
Reply:I think they are great names. I have a friend named Jason and he goes by Jase. Donnie could be a nickname for Donovan.
Reply:i do like Jason. %26amp; i'm not too fond of Donovan just because this is similar to a last name.
Reply:Jason Donovan, is a singer. Or was, he sang with Kylie Minogue.
Reply:Jason is good. Donovan not so much.

Don and Jay. I saw someone say Jace as a nickname but I think that is just stupid.
Reply:I think that they are both pretty bad. Jason, yeah that's alright, Donovan not so much.
Reply:I think they would make good names for siblings. As for nicknames, those just kind of happen..Not sure how you plan a nick name
Reply:I like them together and the shortened names are probably Jay and Don..I like the full names better.

You have the same name as my daughter..so I am a big fan of yours! :)
Reply:Sound fine to me. Jason could have Jay Jay for a nickname or just Jay...but I have no idea for Donovan.
Reply:I think that it should be Jason %26amp; Homer.
Reply:Those are cute!

Jay and Don or Jay and Van.
Reply:I dont like either name.
Reply:I like Jason but, I am not crazy about Donovan. Sorry!
Reply:good names but nick names would maybe be Jay and Don or Jay and Vin
Reply:yea they're cute.

Reply:Donovan...wasn't that some dumb pop singer from the '60's?
Reply:ya those are pretty good names for boys to have
Reply:they are okay.

Jay and Don or Donny/Donnie
Reply:Yeah they go well together. Jay and Donnie?
Reply:yeah they are cute. Don- donny , jason - jay? or sonny! haha

Jesus Christ...

I would just love to see the ultra-liberals address your son, like Mr. Jesus, yes teacher.

hehehe

Reply:Your best bet is to choose a name that's not another English word, doesn't sound like another English word, or couldn't be shortened to an English word. You'll also probably want something that's somewhat familiar, even if it's not extremely common. Since your last name is very simple, you'll want to avoid names that sound extremely exotic.

You actually have a lot of options, as long as you know which names to avoid. Harry Bull is definitely one of them. So are Oliver Bull (as in, "I'm tired of taking all of her bull"), Rhett Bull (sounds like a common energy drink), and Ryder Bull.

Here are a few names I like (of varying styles) that seem relatively problem-free:

Julian Bull

Julius Bull

Darian Bull

Gideon Bull

If you can find a name you like as a first, how about same using the letter of the middle name. If you son is Logan Aiden, then you can name his Aaron Lytton, just an idea

How horrible are parents who name girls with boys' names & vice versa?

Logan as a girl's name is almost as bad as parents who come up with different spellings and pronounciations for their child's name!

How horrible are parents who name girls with boys' names %26amp; vice versa?
I don't neccesarily think it's horrible to name a boy "Logan" because to me that is a boy's name. I think it's horrible when parents name their kids things like Pilot Inspektor, Fishhook, or Shithead (pronounced Shuh-tay). It's horrible when you pick your kids' names by throwing Scrabble tiles against the walls and seeing what they get out of it!
Reply:Why so they hate the own children?
Reply:I kinda like it actually.
Reply:I don't think that the gender roles are nearly as bad as the absurd spellings and just made up names for children.

At least when you see the name "Logan" on a job application you don't laugh and throw it in the trash.
Reply:I pity all the preschoolers around now with the weird spellings and names.

Trust your child to grow up and distinguish themselves.

Weird spellings just make the parents look ignorant.

Sorry to those of you who have done it, but its true.
Reply:Honestly, I dont think parents are horrible if they choose to give their girls boys name and vice versa. It's their preference, they know what they want and like. It's a little thing called Unisex refering to both girls %26amp; boys. To me names like Logan, Jordan, and Skylar are unisex names. Next, I am a big fan of different spellings, most names now days are becoming too popular and diffrent spellings makes the name unique!
Reply:Way less horrible than unoriginal parents who name the kids after themselves because they are too lazy or boring to think up something different. I would never name my kid William or John or David or Andrew or Jennifer or or Mary or any of the top 10 most common names of the year he or she is born. Shows that parents lack any imagination or too traditional for my taste. I think there are plenty of interesting names without going for the most popular ones or the overly weird.

I also don麓t think a kid should be named after a living relative unless they are dying of some terminal disease.

I think names can have some meaning, sound good with the last name, and still be unique and interesting.
Reply:I think its just ridiculous...

A friend told me she plans on naming her daughter 'Israel'...UGH!
Reply:Horrible
Reply:I think it is kinda creative, actually. Logan is not a girls name, but it could be.
Reply:I knew a guy in high school named Shannon. He was made fun of all the time. I would never do that to my child.
Reply:What's in a name?

In attempts to find "different" names to steer from common names, they somehow think it's "cool" I guess. I should talk, I nicknamed myself "Wickwire" and doesn't that sound masculine? OMG, I'm one of them!!

Shirley used to be a common mans name until Shirley Temple came along.
Reply:I think that the different spellings and made-up names are by far worse. I don't see many parents who actually name girls with boys' names %26amp; vice versa. Most of those names are unisex to begin with.

And either way, it's not like a child is stuck with the name for life! He or she can change it when they are 18 (or earlier if you give them permission).
Reply:I'm SO guilty of this. I would love to name a boy Kelley and the lady who does my nails named her daughter Tommi-Lynn. I think its awesome, but you almost have to know how the kid will be as he gets older. Kelley has to be the poetic type, he can't look like Conan O'Brien, ya know?
Reply:NOT HORRIBLE AT ALL.

JOHNNY CASHS SONG "A BOY NAMED SUE"

HOW ABOUT THAT?
Reply:Ive thought that naming is arrogance.

Why should a child be stuck for life with a set of syllables that you like, and have that associated with their inner self? What right do you have to do that to a child?

I'm thinking of giving my child a temporary name until their personality is fully formed, then rigorously, deeply studying and understand them, their loves, and inner nature, and then giving the child a true-name where the outer name is more representative to their inner self.
Reply:I completely disagree, I think boys names are very cute for girls. Now giving a boy a girl name is a little sad. I think that giving a girl a boy's name gives her an advantage in the business world later on when someone scans her resume and can't discriminate based on sex. Logan is totally cute for a girl. If I have a girl, I'd love to give her a gender-neutral name instead of something ultra-girly.
Reply:logan for a girl is pretty bad
Reply:How do you figure? They are just looking for some originality for their child, a chance to stick out and not have to deal with being one out of 6 Katie's or Dylan's in their class. I don't think it's up for you to decide because for all you know the child likes their name! Who are you to say what is right and wrong for a parent to do? Are you even a parent and even know what you're talking about?
Reply:Just terrible!
Reply:Names like Stacy and Leslie used to be exclusively boys' names. No one blinks an eye if a girl has these names now. Language is a living, changing thing. Sure Bob would be pretty lame for your daughter, but there are plenty of other names that would work wonderfully for either sex. My wife and I plan on naming our daughter Gideon which was her maiden name.
Reply:if it doesnt sound too bad, i think its creative actually
Reply:AMerica is a melting pot. A name that we may think is strange may be very common somewhere else in the world. We need to have an open mind and not judge others by the name their parents came up with. I'm personally partial to classic names, and don't like many of the names people choose, but it's not my decision. Every parent has that right.
Reply:The strange spellings take some getting used to but a girl with a boy name is a no no for me as the child will always be mistaken for a boy until she is seen.
Reply:The gender of a name is nowhere near as bad as the absurd so called creative names that are picked out of who knows where.

Anyway, can you first say what your other grandkids' names are? It's just so suggestions will flow well with them - you don't want an Alex and then a Ptolemy for example (I just looked at another question lol).
