I mean like naming a girl: Jordan, Hunter or Kyle. Which names do you like or do you disapprove of this trend? Are there others you like?
What boys' names do you like as a girls' names?
Kennedy
Tommy or Tommie
Pat
Joey
Oscar?
Reply:People who give masculine names to girls are not breaking any gender barriers. Women aren't overcoming anything by having a boy's name. It doesn't make them stronger or smarter. That's all it is, a girl with a boy's name. It's pretty much saying "We wanted a boy but had a girl and decided to give a boy's name anyways" or girls aren't as good as boys so you gave them a boy's name so they will be better.
It's a horrible horrible trend that unfortunatly is victimizing innocent little girls by the thousands. Parents are arrogant, and for their selfish reasons they don't care about the child, or the fact that they have to live their childhood with these names, always being mistaken for a boy, because their parents didn't care, they just thought it's cute. And by the time they're eighteen and can legally change their names, the damage is already done. All because of their arrogant, ignorant, selfish, unintellectual parents.
Reply:I hate this trend. Masculine names on poor little girls is horrible. It's only going to gender confuse them. And there's nothing feminine, girly, or unisex about the majority of these names.
The -son names meaning son, and other names with masculine meanings like Aubrey, which means Elf King, are especially horrible on little girls.
And I really hate last names that are being use on girls like Jordan, Reagan, Taylor, Riley, Kennedy, Parker, Sawyer, Delaney, etc.
I love Aubrey, Kelly, Kendall, Whitney, Delaney on boys where they rightfully should be.
Reply:Well to all you women out there with such high opinions of Masculine girls names and the parents that name them I think you should shut up. It is up to the individual to decide on a name for their baby not you.
I have 3 daughters and a son and all have masculine names .
Son Cody and Daughters Mackinley, Hunter and Chesney and it hasn't hurt them in the slightest in fact they have all been told on several occasions by other children their age with Normal girlie names how they wish they had a name like that.
Reply:I personally don't like girls "encroaching" upon boys names. I have a nephew named "Kyle" and I know a boy in my son's school named "Hunter". What's the point? Some names can be genuinely uni-sex (like Jordan, Jamie, etc). Other names I think should stay boys' names (like Kyle and Hunter).
I don't understand the need or appeal to de-feminize girls' names.
Reply:I REALLY don't care for the trend... but I have to admit there are a few I don't mind.
Jordan (only spelled this way, a Y doesn't make it more feminine)
Harper (I'm starting to get a bit annoyed by this one on a girl though, since I was to use it on a boy)
Reagan (this one I can only see on a girl, sorry)
On the other hand... I love the name Whitney on a BOY! I'd rather it go back to being considered masculine. Many don't realize it, but it is 100% an original boy's name.

Reply:As the mother of a son, I disapprove. It is hard enough to think of a good boy name without people using them for their daughters!!
Reply:i like the name parker for either or. most people think of it as a boys name but i think it would be adorable to name a little girl parker!!
Reply:I don't care for the trend..but I think "sam" for samantha is cute.

Reply:Taylor is ok but it is not something that I'm a big fan of (the tred not the name)
Reply:LIKE NONE! I think it's totally lame.
Reply:ive seen two girl aidens. well one was spelt ayden. i love jordan.
Reply:Yes and no
Jordan is fine, I know just as many boys as girls
Jordan is in the top 100 for both boys and girl. This is an exception to my rule
I do not like name that are in the top 100 of one sex on the other
Hunter is 57; Hunter was 742 in girl name last year
Kyle is 86; Kyle is not in the top 1000 girls name
They are way to common of a boys name
If they are not in the top 100 or there own spelling I do not mind boys name on girl
